The Rainbow Mountain of Peru, is a valley irrigated by the Pitumarca River also known as Winicunca, is impressive and will have magnificent views of the Ausangate Mountain (6,385 m / 20,945 feet), the highest mountain in the Cusco region. We went by hiking through the towns of Andahuaylillas, Quiquijana and Checacupe where a very interesting Inca bridge and some isolated communities are preserved, where you can interact with the locals that still keep the culture alive. The hike to the rainbow mountain offers a selection of wildlife that includes condors, snowy peaks, glaciers and turquoise lakes, herds of llamas and alpacas, all within an incredibly colorful mountain range. This trip that allows you to see the Mountains with domains of the great Apu Ausangate and the Rainbow named for its resemblance to the colors of the rainbow. It requires a 6-hour walk in total (3 hours on each road up and down the mountain) On this hike you will see picturesque villages, beautiful adobe style houses, the colorful sandstone mountains in the Vinicunca area is probably the best thing you will see in Peru.
Day 1: Cusco - Pitumarka - Qesiuno - Rainbow Mt - Quesiuno - CuscoWe will pick you up between 04:30 hrs. - 05:00 hrs. Then, we will take a trip through the southern valley. The trip takes approximately three hours by car or sightseeing bus, we arrive at Pitumarca, where the community of Qheshiuno (4,326 m / 14,189 ft) is located, starting point of the walk, where we will stop for breakfast. The hike of the hike lasts from 2 to 3 hours approx. long to the rainbow mountain (most of the way is up) On the way there are incredible views of the agriculture of Inca terraces, valleys and rocky mountains ... we will be able to enjoy incredible landscapes of herds of alpacas and llamas, Mount Ausangate, many red mountains and traditional local houses. When we finally reach our goal the Rainbow Mountains (5,020 m / 16,466 ft), you will have time to explore the area and take pictures. We will spend approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour at the top. (Depends on your speed of trekking and weather conditions). After the incredible view of the landscapes at the top, we will descend to the beginning of our trekking, which will take us approximately 2 hours to the community of Quesiuno for lunch. Where we will embark on the 3 hour trip back to Cusco and we will leave you. in the Plaza Regocijo in the center of the city next to the main square.
